Two certifications, different conditions
OK Compost covers two separate certifications, based on different standards and test conditions, and they are not interchangeable. Which one applies depends on how the product is actually disposed of.
- OK Compost INDUSTRIAL: per EN 13432, tested under controlled high-temperature industrial composting
- OK Compost HOME: per NF T51-800, tested under ambient home compost bin conditions
- The two are separate certifications, obtained separately and shown separately on the certificate

OK Compost: common questions
INDUSTRIAL is tested to EN 13432 under controlled high-temperature industrial composting conditions; HOME is tested to NF T51-800 under ambient home compost bin conditions. The temperatures, timescales and conditions differ, so the certifications are separate.
A home compost bin sits near ambient temperature and does not control moisture or the microbial environment the way an industrial facility does. A material has to break down under those conditions, which is a higher bar — so the home composting certification is generally seen as the stricter of the two.
Yes, both OK Compost INDUSTRIAL and OK Compost HOME. Certificates are available on request; we do not publish certificate numbers or expiry dates on the website.
It depends on how the product is actually disposed of: choose INDUSTRIAL for industrial composting facilities, or HOME if it is to be labelled as breaking down in a home compost bin. If the disposal route is uncertain, the HOME specification is the safer choice, because home composting conditions are stricter.
